SEO is Search Engine Optimization. It is the process of increasing website visibility for search engines, like Google or Bing, to align webpages with certain searches completed by users. For a Google search of “What is SEO?” users will be given webpages that explain what SEO is. However, in order for such pages to appear in their search results, websites must have pages with the keyword “what is seo,” somewhere on their pages.

Search engines catalog all the websites that have the keyword “what is SEO,” and present that list anytime a user searches for the term.
